January was a busy and exciting month in fourth class! We kicked off the new year with lots of fun learning experiences across different subjects. Here’s a look at some of the amazing things we did this month.
Science – Cup Telephones In science, we explored how sound travels by making our very own cup telephones! We used string and paper cups to create simple communication devices and tested them with our classmates. It was fascinating to see how the vibrations traveled through the string, allowing us to hear each other from a distance.
Art – Claude Monet and Impressionism We learned all about the famous artist Claude Monet and his beautiful Impressionist paintings. To put our learning into practice, we went outside to create our own Impressionist-inspired drawings. We focused on capturing light, colors, and movement in nature, just like Monet did. It was a great way to bring art and the outdoors together!
Maths – Exploring Length and Slope Investigations In maths, we focused on measuring length and understanding how slopes work. We had a fun investigation using toy cars, testing how different slopes affected their speed and distance. We made predictions, recorded results, and discussed our findings – it felt like being real scientists and engineers!
Music – Learning the Ukulele January also marked the start of our ukulele lessons! We learned how to hold the instrument, strum, and play a few simple chords. It was exciting to hear music come to life as we played together, and we can’t wait to learn more songs in the coming weeks.
Caife Gaelach with Ms. Deans’ Fourth Class One of the highlights of the month was our first Caife Gaelach of the year! We joined Ms. Deans’ fourth class for a morning of chatting in Irish, enjoying some treats, and practicing our Gaeilge in a fun and relaxed way. It was a brilliant experience, and we are already looking forward to the next one!
January was a fantastic start to 2024, and we are excited for everything that’s coming next. Bring on February!
