Multicultural Week 2025

4th Apr 2025

This week, we celebrated Multicultural Week at Scoil Cholmcille, and what an incredible experience it was! The school was buzzing with excitement as we immersed ourselves in the traditions, languages, and customs of different cultures from around the world.

We kicked off the week with a lively flamenco dancing class, where we learned some impressive moves and embraced the passion of Spanish dance. Ms. Gahan introduced us to the art of Taekwondo, teaching us some basic techniques and giving us insight into the discipline and skill required in this Korean martial art. We also put our knowledge to the test with Kahoot quizzes, exploring fascinating facts about different countries, their languages, and unique traditions. Throughout the week, we watched inspiring films that showcased the lives and experiences of people from diverse backgrounds, helping us appreciate the richness of global cultures.

An important part of our learning this week was discovering more about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). We explored the rights that every child is entitled to, such as the right to education, safety, and freedom of expression. Through discussions and activities, we reflected on how these rights help ensure fairness and protection for children all over the world. It was a meaningful and thought-provoking experience that helped us understand the importance of equality and respect for all.

One of the highlights of the week was undoubtedly the Food Fair on Thursday. The aroma of delicious dishes from all over the world filled the air as children and parents proudly shared homemade specialties from their home countries. From savory treats to sweet delights, every bite was a celebration of diversity and unity. A huge thank you to all the families who contributed – your generosity and effort made the event truly special.

It was a fantastic week of learning, sharing, and celebrating the beauty of multiculturalism. We are already looking forward to next year’s Multicultural Week and can’t wait to see what new experiences it will bring!
