National Fitness Day

The whole school took part in our event for National Fitness Day which took place on Thursday 28th September. It was organised by some of the students in 6th class. Everyone in the school had to complete two laps of Donaghmede Park. Students from 6th class were at different part around the park telling students to walk, run or hop from one station to the next. Well done to everyone who was able to complete the challenge.

Santa Dash

On Friday 15th December, the children of Scoil Cholmcille took part in a Santa Dash in Donaghmede Park . All children wore their school tracksuits and something festive. The children turned up very excited wearing Christmas Jumpers, Christmas Hairbands, Santa Hats and all looked very festive.

The children came out with their class groups. Everyone ran at least one lap of the park with some of the older students running two.

Lots of smiles and laughter was to be seen and heard as the children completed their Santa Dash. Have a look at some of our pictures from the day. Thank you to all the staff for helping out on the day.

Active Breaks

All classes have done a wide variety of active breaks during the school year. Some classes run around the school, other complete active challenges in class.

From November we have been working on completing Olympic Movement Breaks. We got to watch at different athlete showing us movement challenges each day.

Run Around Europe

As a whole school we have set up a race between the different classes in the school. The school has been put into four teams and we have selected the cities of Brussels (777km), Berlin(1,315km), Madrid (1447km) and Lisbon (1,645km) as our destinations for our finish line,  we are competing to see which team can collectively cover the distance to their destination first. Our aim is that all teams will have reached their destination before Easter.

Active Week

From April 29th to May 3rd we had active week in the school, we took part in the following activities:

1: Active walkway - any day/time.

2. Jumping Jack challenge - students multiply their age by 10 and try to complete that many jumping jacks in 1 day.

3. Wall squat competition - how long can you maintain a wall squat position? Can you record the best time in your class to see the overall winner.

4. Fun yard relays

Throughout the week we only had active homework.

Each morning we were able to join in with Core Kids PE Zoom session which helped give us a great start to each day.
